The ACCUPRO 312226 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precision milling in demanding metalworking applications. It features a 1/2 inch diameter, a 5-flute configuration with a 38-degree helix angle, and an AlCrTiN coating that provides excellent heat and wear resistance at elevated cutting temperatures. The 0.090 inch corner radius reduces stress concentration at the cutting edge, extending tool life in aggressive finishing and semi-finishing passes. At 6 inches overall length with a 3.375 inch reach length, this is an extended-reach tool suited for deep-pocket and hard-to-access workpiece features. It is a single-end, center-cutting design with right-hand flute direction and right-hand cutting direction, ground from micrograin carbide stock for edge consistency.
This end mill is used in CNC machining centers and manual mills for milling steel, stainless steel, hardened alloys, and other materials where an AlCrTiN coating provides thermal protection. The extended reach and reduced neck diameter of 0.475 inches make it well suited for deep-pocket profiling, peripheral milling, and contouring where standard-length tools cannot reach. The variable index geometry helps suppress chatter during high-speed passes. Typical operators include machinist shops, tool-and-die operations, and production CNC environments running multi-axis equipment.
Designed as an OEM-style solid carbide corner radius end mill for use in standard 1/2 inch diameter collet chucks, end mill holders, and shrink-fit tooling systems compatible with 1/2 inch shank diameters.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop safety protocols. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe state before changing tooling. Seat the 1/2 inch shank fully into a clean, undamaged holder and torque the retention hardware per the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Inspect the corner radius and cutting edges for chips or damage before each use, and confirm runout with a dial indicator when precision tolerances are required.
