The ACCUPRO 311553 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precision milling operations in ferrous and hard materials. It features a 3/8 inch diameter, a 1 inch length of cut, and a 0.060 inch corner radius that reduces stress concentration at the cutting edge and extends tool life in demanding applications. The 38-degree helix angle and 5-flute configuration promote smooth chip evacuation and improved surface finish. An AlCrTiN coating provides high-temperature oxidation resistance and hardness retention at elevated cutting speeds. This is a single-end, centercutting tool, meaning it can be used for plunge cutting as well as peripheral and slot milling.
This end mill is suited for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills where corner radius geometry is required to produce blended fillets on workpiece features. Typical applications include die and mold work, aerospace component machining, and general production milling of alloy steels, stainless steels, and hardened materials. The variable index flute spacing reduces harmonic chatter at higher feed rates, making it well-suited for aggressive material removal in rigid setups. It is used by machinists and tool-and-die makers working in job shops and production environments.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement-style end mill for CNC machining centers and manual milling machines accepting a 3/8 inch straight shank. Compatible with standard ER collets, side-lock holders, and shrink-fit toolholders sized for 3/8 inch shank diameter.
Installation and tool changes must be performed with the machine spindle fully stopped and the machine in a locked-out, de-energized state per applicable machine tool safety procedures. Ensure the shank is fully seated and clamped to the correct torque specification for the toolholder type in use, referencing the toolholder manufacturer guidelines. Inspect the collet or holder bore for wear or contamination before mounting. Handle carbide tooling with care to avoid edge chipping from contact with hard surfaces during storage or installation.
