The ACCUPRO 310843 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precision milling in demanding metalworking applications. It features a 3/8 inch diameter with a 0.0200 inch corner radius, four flutes with a right-hand spiral and right-hand cutting direction, and a 38-degree variable-index helix geometry. The AlCrTiN coating provides thermal and oxidation resistance for extended tool life in high-temperature cutting environments. With a 6 inch overall length and an extended reach design, this end mill suits deep-cavity and long-reach milling operations where standard-length tooling cannot access the workpart. Machinists and CNC programmers working in tool and die, mold making, and aerospace component production are the primary users.
This end mill is suited for milling ferrous and hardened materials where a corner radius geometry is required to reduce stress concentration at the floor-wall intersection of a pocket or contour. The 1/2 inch length of cut and 3-1/8 inch reach length allow access to features located well below the part surface without resorting to specialty tooling. It is centercutting, enabling direct plunge entry where the operation calls for it. The micrograin solid carbide substrate supports high-speed and high-feed strategies on CNC vertical and horizontal machining centers.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use solid carbide corner radius end mill for CNC machining centers accepting a 3/8 inch straight shank toolholder.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the control is in an e-stop or tool-change state before loading the tool into the holder. Use a properly sized collet or end mill holder torqued to the toolholder manufacturer's specification to prevent slippage during extended-reach cuts. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a production cut, as runout is especially critical with variable-index geometries and corner radius profiles.
