The ACCUPRO 31065-00T is a spiral point tap designed for cutting internal metric coarse threads in through-hole applications. It features a plug chamfer for standard through-hole entry and a TiN (titanium nitride) coating that extends tool life by reducing friction and wear. Built from powdered metal, this tap offers a tighter grain structure than conventional high-speed steel, improving edge retention in production environments. With 3 flutes and a right-hand thread direction, it drives chips forward ahead of the cutting zone, helping maintain clean thread form at M8 x 1.25 pitch. Installers and machinists use this tap in CNC tapping centers, drill presses, and hand-tapping operations.
This tap is suited for threading through-holes in ferrous and non-ferrous materials where metric coarse M8 x 1.25 threads are required. It is commonly used in manufacturing, maintenance and repair, and assembly operations. The 6H class of fit meets standard tolerance requirements for general-purpose metric fastener applications. The D5 thread limit designation indicates the amount of allowance above basic pitch diameter, keeping the tap compatible with standard 6H tolerance class fits across a range of workpiece materials.
Designed as a standard replacement or new-installation spiral point tap for through-hole M8 x 1.25 metric coarse tapping operations. No coolant-through feature; suitable for external cutting fluid application only.
This tap is installed and operated by machinists, tool-and-die tradespeople, and maintenance technicians. Before use, ensure the workpiece is properly secured and the correct tap drill size for M8 x 1.25 metric coarse thread has been used. Apply appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to extend tool life and achieve clean thread form. For CNC tapping, verify spindle speed and feed rate are set per the tap manufacturer and machine tool specifications before engaging the cut.
