The ACCUPRO 310297 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance milling in ferrous and hard materials. Built to Series HS standards, it features a 0.5-inch mill diameter, a 1.25-inch length of cut, and a 38-degree helix angle that promotes efficient chip evacuation and reduces chatter. The AlTiCrN coating provides thermal resistance and extended tool life in dry or semi-dry cutting conditions. Four spiral flutes with a variable index configuration improve surface finish and suppress vibration. This end mill suits machinists and tooling shops running CNC mills, vertical machining centers, and manual milling equipment demanding tight tolerances and consistent performance.
The 310297 is well suited for slot milling, profiling, and peripheral milling operations in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and similar hard materials. Its single-end design, right-hand flute direction, and right-hand cutting orientation make it a straightforward drop-in for standard ER or straight-shank tool holders with a 0.5-inch bore. The micrograin carbide substrate supports aggressive feeds and speeds where coated high-speed steel tooling would lose edge integrity. This tool is appropriate for both production runs and precision prototype work in job shop and manufacturing environments.
Designed as a standard-shank solid carbide square end mill with a 0.5-inch shank diameter, compatible with ER collet chucks, end mill holders, and other 0.5-inch bore toolholding systems on CNC machining centers and manual knee mills.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician following the machine tool manufacturer's tool-change procedures. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and machine is placed in an e-stop or locked-out state before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the collet or holder to the recommended gauge-line depth and torque the retention nut per the toolholder manufacturer's specification. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or damage before each use, as carbide tooling is brittle and sensitive to impact.
