The ACCUPRO 30163-00C is a spiral point tap designed for cutting right-hand internal threads in through-hole applications. It produces a 1/2-13 UNC thread form with a plug chamfer and a 3B class of fit, meeting standard dimensional tolerance requirements for general mechanical assemblies. Built from powdered metal high-speed steel (PM HSS) and coated with titanium carbonitride (TiCN), the tap delivers improved wear resistance and heat tolerance compared to conventional HSS tooling. Machinists, tool and die makers, and production operators use this tap on CNC machining centers, knee mills, and drill presses for ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces.

This tap is suited for production tapping in steel, cast iron, aluminum, and similar materials where a through-hole threading operation is required. The plug chamfer style distributes cutting load across several leading threads, making it appropriate for material thicknesses greater than 1.5 times the thread diameter. The 4-flute spiral point geometry pushes chips forward ahead of the tap, making it particularly effective in through-hole applications where chip evacuation from the back of the hole is not a concern. It is not recommended for blind-hole applications where chip clearance is restricted.
