The ACCUPRO 2500442 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precise milling operations in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Built from micrograin carbide stock, it measures 0.5 inches in diameter with a 0.625-inch length of cut and a 6-inch overall length, making it well-suited for extended-reach applications where standard-length tools fall short. The 45-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and reduces cutting forces. A zirconium nitride (ZrN) coating improves surface hardness and wear resistance. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals specify this end mill for slots, pockets, and profiling passes where tight dimensional tolerances are required.
This end mill is used in CNC machining centers, vertical mills, and manual knee mills across job shop, production, and maintenance-repair-overhaul environments. The extended reach configuration, with a 3.375-inch reach length, allows access to deep pockets and stepped features without sacrificing rigidity at the 0.5-inch shank. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute geometry follows standard spindle convention. The centercutting design allows plunge entry directly into the workpiece, eliminating the need for a pre-drilled start hole in most applications.
Designed as a standard 0.5-inch shank round tool compatible with ER collet chucks, end mill holders, and Weldon-style tool holders accepting a 0.5-inch shank diameter in CNC machining centers and manual vertical mills.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the tool holder manufacturer torching and runout specifications. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in an e-stop or locked-out state before inserting or removing the tool. Seat the shank fully into the holder to the recommended minimum engagement depth to prevent pull-out under cutting loads. Verify tool runout with a dial indicator before initiating a cut, as excessive runout will accelerate tool wear and degrade surface finish.
