The ACCUPRO 2500142 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations in metal, composites, and other hard materials. It features a 5/16-inch diameter, five-flute geometry, and a 45-degree helix angle that promotes efficient chip evacuation and reduces cutting forces. The stub-length configuration keeps the tool rigid, minimizing deflection in demanding cuts. Micrograin carbide construction provides the hardness and wear resistance needed for consistent performance in production and job-shop environments. Licensed machinists and CNC operators are the primary installers and users of this tool.
This end mill is suited for finish milling, slotting, and profiling operations on CNC machining centers and manual mills. The 5-flute design increases the number of cutting edges compared to standard 4-flute tools, making it well-suited for higher feed rates in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The bright/uncoated finish makes it a straightforward choice when coating is not required or when cutting materials that are sensitive to coated tooling. The stub length-of-cut range of 0.300 to 0.500 inches is appropriate for shallow-to-moderate depth cuts where rigidity is the priority.
Designed as a standard 5/16-inch shank square end mill compatible with collet chucks, end mill holders, and other standard toolholding systems that accept a 5/16-inch straight shank on CNC machining centers and manual milling machines.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and the machine in a safe, locked-out state. Ensure the shank is fully seated and properly torqued in the toolholder per the toolholder manufacturer's specifications. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or wear before each use. Follow applicable shop safety procedures and machine manufacturer guidelines when setting tool offsets and running initial cuts.
