The ACCUPRO 14915636 is a solid carbide barrel cutter end mill with a taper form end type, designed for high-performance milling in demanding machining applications. Featuring a 15-degree taper angle per side and an AlTiN+ finish coating, this tool delivers excellent heat resistance and wear performance in hardened steels, stainless, and high-temp alloys. The 6-flute configuration supports higher feed rates and improved surface finish. With a 0.5901-inch length of cut and a 3/8-inch shank diameter, it fits standard ER and shrink-fit toolholders common in CNC machining centers. Overall length is 2.5 inches. Machinists and CNC programmers specify this geometry for 5-axis and 3+2 finishing operations.
This barrel cutter is suited for finishing passes on complex contoured surfaces, including molds, dies, and aerospace structural components. The taper form geometry allows larger effective cutting radius contact compared to a standard ball end mill, reducing the number of passes needed to achieve a target surface finish. It is well-suited for use in vertical and horizontal CNC machining centers running HSM or trochoidal toolpaths. The small end diameter of 0.375 inches keeps the tool rigid in tight-radius features while the AlTiN+ coating extends tool life in abrasive and high-temperature cutting conditions.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers with standard ER collet chucks, shrink-fit holders, or hydraulic toolholders accepting a 3/8-inch shank diameter.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and machine in a safe, locked-out state. Ensure the toolholder bore is clean and free of debris before seating the shank. Verify runout with a dial indicator before committing to a finishing pass, as excessive runout will degrade surface finish and reduce tool life. Follow the cutting tool manufacturer's recommended speeds and feeds for the specific workpiece material.
