The ACCUPRO 14915606 is a solid carbide lens form barrel cutter end mill designed for high-efficiency semi-finishing and finishing of complex curved surfaces. The lens form profile generates a large effective cutting radius without increasing tool engagement, reducing scallop height and improving surface finish compared to standard ball end mills. Coated with AlTiN+ for enhanced heat resistance and tool life at elevated cutting speeds, this end mill is built for demanding CNC machining applications in hardened steels, stainless, and aerospace alloys. With a 5/8 inch shank diameter and 3-1/2 inch overall length, it fits standard CAT, BT, and HSK toolholders used in vertical and horizontal machining centers.
This end mill is suited for 5-axis and 3+2 machining operations where barrel or oval form cutters replace multiple ball end mill passes. Typical applications include turbine blades, impellers, mold cavities, and orthopedic implant geometries. The 11/16 inch length of cut and three-flute geometry support efficient material removal on contoured workpiece surfaces while maintaining rigidity. Machinists and CNC programmers in aerospace, medical device, die and mold, and general precision machining shops will find this tool effective for reducing cycle time on complex surface finishing operations.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct addition for CNC machining centers accepting 5/8 inch shank diameter end mills in standard precision collet chucks, shrink-fit holders, and hydraulic toolholders.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified CNC machinist or toolroom technician with the machine powered down and the spindle fully stopped. Ensure the toolholder bore and shank are clean and free of chips or coolant residue before seating the tool. Verify runout with a dial indicator after clamping to confirm concentricity within acceptable limits for the intended application. Follow the toolholder manufacturer torque recommendations when tightening collet nuts or set screws.
