The ACCUPRO 14881978 is a miniature solid carbide ball end mill designed for precision milling in tight geometries and small-feature work. It carries a 5/64 inch (0.0781 inch) mill diameter and a 1/8 inch shank diameter, making it well-suited for fine contouring, profiling, and slotting operations where standard-size tooling cannot reach. The three-flute, right-hand spiral geometry with a 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. Micrograin carbide construction delivers the rigidity and edge retention required for consistent performance in harder workpiece materials. The bright/uncoated finish means the tool runs as-ground with no additional coating layer.
This end mill is used in CNC machining centers and manual mills for small-part production, mold and die work, medical components, aerospace detail parts, and electronics fixtures. With a 0.1170 inch length of cut, a 0.9400 inch neck length, and a 2-1/2 inch overall length, it offers extended reach into recessed pockets and features while maintaining tool stiffness. It is a single-end tool intended for right-hand cutting. Machinists working with aluminum, brass, plastics, and light-to-medium steels will find this geometry effective for finishing passes and fine detail work.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use miniature end mill compatible with CNC machining centers, knee mills, and toolroom mills fitted with 1/8 inch collet chucks or ER-style collet systems.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following standard toolholding procedures. Secure the 1/8 inch shank fully into a collet or end mill holder to the recommended gauge-line depth before tightening. Verify runout at the tool tip prior to cutting, as miniature carbide tools are sensitive to clamping-induced deflection. Avoid side-loading the tool during entry; use ramping or helical interpolation entry moves to protect the fragile ball geometry.
