The ACCUPRO 14796990 is a stub-length square end mill designed for precision milling of tight-tolerance features in hardened and abrasive workpiece materials. It measures 0.009 inches in diameter with a 0.014-inch length of cut and a 1.5-inch overall length. The tool body is ground from micrograin solid carbide and carries an aluminum titanium nitride (AlTiN) coating that improves heat resistance and tool life at elevated cutting speeds. Two right-hand spiral flutes with a 30-degree helix angle promote efficient chip evacuation. Center-cutting geometry allows plunge entry. This end mill is sized for micro-machining applications and is handled by machinists and tool-and-die professionals working on CNC machining centers and high-speed vertical mills.
This stub-length end mill is suited for micro-milling slots, pockets, and profiles in hardened steels, stainless alloys, titanium, and similar difficult-to-machine materials. The 0.125-inch shank diameter fits standard ER collet chucks and precision end mill holders common in CNC machining centers. Its short length of cut and stub overall length provide maximum rigidity at small diameters, reducing deflection and chatter when working in confined features or deep pockets requiring extended reach through a holder rather than the cutter itself. It is a single-end tool intended for one-directional right-hand cutting.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for stub-length micro square end mills with a 0.125-inch shank diameter. Fits standard ER collet systems and precision end mill holders accepting 0.125-inch shanks on CNC machining centers and vertical mills.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist. Ensure the machine spindle is fully powered down and locked out before changing tooling. Seat the 0.125-inch shank fully into the collet or end mill holder to the recommended engagement depth before torquing the collet nut. At micro diameters, verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a production cut, as even small amounts of runout accelerate tool wear and can cause breakage.
