The ACCUPRO 14788623 is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for precision milling operations in metal and hard-material applications. With a 0.313-inch (5/16-inch) mill diameter and a 1.625-inch length of cut, this tool is built for profiling, contouring, and finishing passes where a radiused cutting edge is required. The AlTiN+ coating provides enhanced heat and wear resistance, making it well suited for high-speed machining of ferrous metals, stainless steels, and hardened alloys. Two medium-flute geometry provides a balance of chip evacuation and surface finish quality. Overall length is 4 inches with a cylindrical shank diameter matching the cutter at 0.313 inches.
This end mill is used in CNC machining centers and manual milling machines across production shops, tool-and-die operations, and maintenance machining environments. It is appropriate for finishing and semi-finishing cuts in steel, cast iron, and similar materials where a ball-nose profile is needed to generate radii, blends, or 3D contoured surfaces. The non-extended-reach design keeps the tool rigid for accurate, chatter-resistant cuts in moderate-depth cavities. No chipbreaker geometry keeps the cutting edge geometry straightforward for general-purpose profiling work.
Designed as a standard cylindrical-shank ball end mill compatible with ER collet systems, end mill holders, and milling chucks sized for a 5/16-inch shank diameter on CNC machining centers and knee mills.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Power down and lock out the spindle before seating or removing the tool from its holder. Ensure the collet or holder bore is clean and free of chips before clamping to maintain runout within acceptable limits. Follow the machine tool manufacturer guidelines for minimum shank engagement depth when setting tool length offset.
