The ACCUPRO 14788338 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations in metal, composites, and engineered plastics. With a 1/2 inch (0.5000 inch) mill diameter and 2 helical flutes, this end mill delivers clean square-shoulder cuts and efficient chip evacuation. It is centercutting, allowing plunge entry into the workpiece without a pre-drilled hole. The cylindrical shank measures 1/2 inch in diameter, and overall length is 3 inches. Solid carbide construction provides superior hardness and heat resistance compared to high-speed steel, making it well suited for higher-speed applications on CNC mills and manual knee mills alike.
This end mill is used in job shops, tool rooms, and production machining environments for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling operations. The 1 inch length of cut accommodates standard depth passes without excessive tool overhang. The helical flute geometry promotes smooth cutting action and reduces cutting forces, which is particularly useful when working with tighter tolerances or when machine rigidity is a concern. Machinists and CNC operators in aerospace, automotive, mold and die, and general fabrication shops are the primary installers and users of this tool.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard tooling option for CNC machining centers and manual mills accepting 1/2 inch straight cylindrical shank end mills via ER collets, end mill holders, or Weldon-style holders.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator following standard tool-change procedures. Always power down and lock out the spindle before inserting or removing end mills. Ensure the shank is clean and fully seated in the holder to the recommended engagement depth before tightening. Verify runout with a dial indicator after tool installation to confirm concentricity before beginning a cut.
