The ACCUPRO 13265-01T is a thread forming tap designed for 5/16-24 UNF right-hand internal threads in blind hole applications. Rather than cutting material, this tap displaces and forms thread geometry without producing chips, making it well-suited for ductile metals including aluminum alloys, mild steel, and copper. Manufactured from powdered metal high-speed steel for improved wear resistance and toughness, the tap is finished with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating that reduces friction and extends tool life. The bottoming chamfer style, with approximately 2.5 chamfered threads, allows threading close to the bottom of a blind hole. Thread limit is H5 with a Class 3B fit tolerance.
This tap is used in precision machining, fabrication, and maintenance operations where clean, strong formed threads are required in blind holes. The 5/16-24 UNF thread size is common in aerospace, automotive, and industrial equipment applications where fine-thread engagement and high pull-out strength are needed. Machinists, tool-and-die workers, and maintenance technicians use this tap in both CNC tapping operations and hand tapping setups where the bottoming geometry allows maximum thread depth utilization in confined bores.
Designed for forming 5/16-24 UNF right-hand internal threads in blind holes in ductile workpiece materials. Refer to standard UNF tap drill charts for correct drill diameter selection prior to use.
Thread forming taps require higher torque than cutting taps and must be used with an appropriate tapping lubricant or cutting fluid matched to the workpiece material. Secure the workpiece fully and ensure the tap is aligned perpendicular to the drilled hole before beginning. Always use a calibrated torque driver or tapping attachment when running in CNC or power-tapping setups to avoid overloading the tap shank. Thread forming taps are not suitable for brittle materials such as cast iron or hardened steel.
