The ACCUPRO 12185374 is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for precision milling operations in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Built with four flutes and a 40-degree helix angle, it delivers efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action at higher feed rates. The double-end configuration provides two usable cutting ends, extending tool life and reducing per-part tooling cost. A TiCN coating increases surface hardness and wear resistance, making this end mill well-suited for harder workpiece materials where uncoated carbide would wear prematurely. Cutting diameter is 0.3125 inches with a matching 0.3125-inch shank diameter and a 0.5-inch length of cut.
This ball end mill is used in CNC machining centers and manual milling machines for profiling, contouring, slotting, and finishing operations. The ball-nose geometry produces accurate radii and blended surfaces on 3D contours and die or mold cavities. The stub-length configuration provides added rigidity, reducing deflection in tight setups. It is primarily installed by machinist and toolroom professionals working in production shops, job shops, and maintenance machining environments where tight tolerances and repeatable surface finish are required.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use solid carbide ball end mill compatible with standard 5/16-inch collets, end mill holders, and shrink-fit toolholders used in CNC and manual milling machines.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following established toolholding procedures. Ensure the milling machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the collet or holder to the recommended engagement depth and tighten to the toolholder manufacturer's specified procedure. Inspect the cutting edges and coating condition before each use and replace when wear is visible to maintain dimensional accuracy and surface finish.
