The ACCUPRO 12185214 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision material removal in machining operations. Built from micrograin solid carbide with an AlTiN finish, it delivers heat resistance and edge retention in demanding cutting applications. The double-end configuration provides two usable cutting ends, extending tool life between changeovers. Key dimensions include a 15/64 inch (0.2344 inch) mill diameter, a 1/2 inch length of cut, a 1/4 inch shank diameter, and a 2-1/2 inch overall length. With 4 spiral flutes and a 40-degree helix angle, it promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth surface finishes on ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
This end mill is suited for milling slots, pockets, and profiles in CNC machining centers and manual knee mills. The stub-length geometry increases rigidity, reducing deflection during aggressive cuts. Its centercutting capability allows plunge milling into workpiece surfaces without pre-drilling. Typical applications include job shop work, tool and die, and production milling on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and hardened alloys where an AlTiN coating provides thermal protection at elevated spindle speeds.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use tool for CNC machining centers and manual mills accepting a 1/4 inch straight shank. Confirm collet or end mill holder compatibility with the 0.2500 inch shank diameter and verify spindle direction before installation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down before changing tooling. Use a properly sized collet or end mill holder that matches the 1/4 inch shank diameter, and torque the drawbar or collet nut to the machine manufacturer's specification. Inspect the tool shank and cutting edges for chips or runout before beginning any cut.
