The ACCUPRO 12185081 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. This double-end tool features a 3/16 inch cutting diameter, a 3/8 inch length of cut, and a 2 inch overall length. The TiCN (titanium carbonitride) coating improves surface hardness and wear resistance compared to uncoated carbide. With a 40-degree helix angle and spiral flute geometry, the 12185081 promotes efficient chip evacuation and reduces cutting forces. It is centercutting, allowing direct plunge entry into workpieces. Micrograin carbide construction supports tight tolerances and longer tool life in demanding machining environments. This stub-length end mill is sold individually.
The 12185081 suits general-purpose milling operations including slotting, profiling, and plunge cutting in ferrous metals, stainless steel, aluminum, and similar materials. The stub length and 3/16 inch shank diameter make it a practical choice for short-reach applications in CNC machining centers and manual knee mills. Its right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration is the standard orientation for the majority of vertical milling setups. The double-end design extends usable tool life by providing two cutting ends per piece.
Designed as a standard square end mill with a 3/16 inch straight shank, compatible with ER collets, end mill holders, and milling chucks sized for 3/16 inch shank diameters on CNC machining centers and manual milling machines.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine powered down and the spindle fully stopped. Ensure the collet or tool holder is clean and free of chips before seating the shank. Verify runout with a dial indicator after clamping to confirm proper seating. Follow the machine manufacturer and tooling manufacturer guidelines for speed and feed parameters appropriate to the workpiece material.
