The ACCUPRO 12185040 is a double-end, solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in metalworking and machining applications. It carries a 5/16-inch cutting diameter, a 3/4-inch length of cut, and a 3/8-inch shank diameter, with a 3-1/2-inch overall length. The AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) coating provides thermal resistance and extended tool life when cutting ferrous metals and hardened materials. The 40-degree helix angle and spiral flute geometry promote efficient chip evacuation and smooth surface finishes. Micrograin carbide substrate adds toughness and wear resistance. This tool is installed by machinists in manual mills, CNC machining centers, and tool-and-die operations.
This end mill is suited for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling on ferrous metals, stainless steel, and high-temperature alloys. The centercutting geometry allows plunge entry, expanding its use in pocketing operations. The right-hand cut and right-hand spiral flute configuration is standard for conventional CNC spindle rotation. The double-end design doubles usable tool life before the tool is retired, making it a cost-effective option in high-volume production environments. Regular length designation makes it appropriate for general-purpose work where extended reach is not required.
Designed as an OEM-style solid carbide square end mill for use in standard 3/8-inch collet or end mill holders on manual and CNC milling machines requiring a 5/16-inch cutting diameter tool.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop safety procedures. Secure the shank in a properly sized collet or end mill holder and torque to the holder manufacturer's specification. Confirm spindle rotation direction matches the right-hand cut geometry before engaging the workpiece. Inspect the tool for chipping or wear at each tool change interval.
