The ACCUPRO 12184977 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for both roughing and finishing operations in a single tool. With a 3/16-inch cutting diameter and four flutes arranged at a 40-degree helix angle, it delivers aggressive material removal while leaving a finished surface. The AlTiN coating increases surface hardness and heat resistance, making it suitable for dry or high-speed machining. At stub length with a 3/8-inch length of cut and 2-inch overall length, it offers rigidity in tight-clearance applications. Machinists and toolroom operators use this end mill in CNC machining centers and manual mills for ferrous and non-ferrous workpiece materials.
This end mill is suited for general metalworking applications in job shops, production machining, and toolroom environments. The chipbreaker geometry reduces cutting forces and helps break chips into manageable lengths during roughing passes, which lowers the risk of chip packing in deep slots or pockets. The single-end, right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction make it compatible with standard spindle configurations found in the majority of vertical machining centers. The stub-length profile limits overhang and improves rigidity when machining shallow features where reach is not a constraint.
Designed as an OEM-style solid carbide end mill for use in standard ER collets, end mill holders, and Weldon-style set-screw holders accepting a 3/16-inch shank diameter.
Installation and tool changes should be performed with the machine spindle fully stopped and the control in a safe or e-stop state. Ensure the collet or tool holder bore is clean and free of chips before seating the shank to the full recommended engagement depth. Torque the collet nut or set screw according to the toolholder manufacturer specifications — do not over-tighten. Verify runout with a dial indicator before commencing a cut, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear on carbide tooling.
