The ACCUPRO 12184900 is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for high-performance milling of hardened steels, stainless alloys, cast iron, and other demanding materials. The ball-nose geometry produces a curved cutting profile suited to 3D contouring, profiling, and finishing passes. At 0.25 inches in diameter with a 1.5-inch length of cut and a 4.0-inch overall length, this is an extra-long configuration that reaches into deep pockets and cavities where a standard-length tool cannot. Four right-hand spiral flutes with a 40-degree helix angle promote efficient chip evacuation and smooth surface finishes. The AlTiN coating adds thermal resistance and oxidation protection, extending tool life at elevated cutting speeds.
This end mill is suited to CNC machining centers, vertical mills, and high-speed machining applications in job shops, tool and die, mold making, and production environments. The extra-long reach makes it particularly useful for deep pocket milling, core and cavity work in mold and die applications, and contoured surface finishing. The single-end, right-hand cutting configuration is standard for conventional vertical and horizontal CNC setups. Micrograin carbide substrate provides the hardness and edge retention needed for dry or near-dry machining in difficult workpiece materials.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement or new-installation end mill for any CNC machining center or manual mill equipped with a standard 1/4-inch collet, ER collet chuck, or shrink-fit end mill holder.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in an E-stop or locked-out state before changing tooling. Seat the shank to the recommended gauge-line depth in the holder and torque the collet nut per the toolholder manufacturer specification. Inspect the cutting edges and coating for chips or damage before running; a damaged ball-nose edge will affect surface finish and dimensional accuracy on the workpiece.
