The ACCUPRO 12184878 is a single-end ball end mill engineered for contour milling, profiling, and 3D surfacing operations in demanding machining environments. Built from micrograin solid carbide, this tool delivers rigidity and wear resistance well beyond high-speed steel alternatives. The 0.4375-inch (7/16-inch) cutting diameter pairs with a 2-inch length of cut (LOC), giving machinists reach into deep pockets and complex geometries. A 40-degree helix angle promotes smooth chip evacuation and reduced cutting forces. The TiCN coating adds surface hardness and lubricity, extending tool life when cutting ferrous and non-ferrous materials. This is a long-length configuration, making it suited for setups where standard-reach tooling falls short.
This ball end mill is used in CNC machining centers for finish profiling, die and mold work, and curved-surface contouring. Its single-end design, right-hand cut, and right-hand spiral flute pattern make it compatible with standard spindle configurations found in vertical and horizontal machining centers. The long overall length of 4 inches supports applications requiring extended reach without the need for custom toolholders. Machinists working in tool-and-die, aerospace, and general job shop environments will find this geometry effective for slotting, ramping, and finish passes on hardened and soft workpiece materials.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit tooling option for CNC machining centers using standard 7/16-inch collet or end mill holders accepting a 7/16-inch shank diameter.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the machine tool manufacturer guidelines for toolholder torque and runout tolerance. Always power down the spindle and confirm zero RPM before changing tooling. Confirm shank seating depth and collet engagement before beginning any cutting operation. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or coating damage before each use.
