The ACCUPRO 12184868 is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for precision milling operations in metalworking and machining environments. With a 0.25-inch mill diameter and a 1.125-inch length of cut, it handles contoured surfaces, slots, and 3D profiling where a full-radius tip is required. The 4-flute configuration improves surface finish and material removal rates compared to 2-flute designs. A 40-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and reduces cutting forces in harder materials. Built from micrograin carbide and left uncoated, this tool suits applications where base carbide hardness is the priority. It is installed by machinists and CNC programmers working in job shops, tool rooms, and production machining cells.
This ball end mill is suited for milling steel, cast iron, aluminum, and similar machinable materials in both manual and CNC milling applications. The long-length designation and 3-inch overall length allow access to deeper cavities and stepped features that standard-length end mills cannot reach. The single-end design means the cutting geometry is on one end only, with a 0.25-inch straight shank for direct collet or end mill holder mounting. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute direction are standard for conventional CNC machining center spindles.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use cutting tool for CNC machining centers and manual knee mills using standard collet chucks or end mill holders with a 0.25-inch bore.
Installation is performed by machinists using a collet chuck, set-screw holder, or shrink-fit toolholder rated for the 0.25-inch shank diameter. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down or in E-stop before tool changes. Confirm runout with a dial indicator after seating — excessive runout accelerates flute wear and reduces surface finish quality. Follow the machine tool manufacturer and cutting tool supplier recommendations for feeds, speeds, and depth of cut based on the workpiece material.
