The ACCUPRO 12184861 is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for precision milling of complex contoured surfaces, 3D profiles, and finish passes in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Built to long-length specifications with a 2.25 inch length of cut and 5 inch overall length, it provides extended reach into deep pockets and cavities where standard-length tools cannot access. The 4-flute, 40-degree right-hand spiral geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation while maintaining surface finish quality. An AlTiN coating delivers high heat resistance and hardness retention, making this end mill well-suited for dry or semi-dry cutting in hardened steels and high-temperature alloys. Micrograin carbide substrate supports edge sharpness and wear resistance under demanding conditions.
This end mill is used in CNC machining centers for die and mold work, aerospace component machining, and general precision part manufacturing where ball-nose geometry is required for scallop-controlled surface finishing. It suits applications involving hardened steel, stainless, cast iron, and similar materials. The single-end, right-hand cutting configuration is standard for vertical and horizontal CNC mill setups. The 1 inch shank diameter provides rigid toolholder engagement in CAT, BT, HSK, or collet-style chuck systems commonly used in production shops.
Designed as an OEM-style solid carbide ball end mill compatible with standard 1 inch bore CNC toolholders including collet chucks, shrink-fit holders, and hydraulic chucks used in vertical and horizontal machining centers.
Installation should be performed by a qualified CNC machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the control is in a safe state before changing tooling. Confirm the shank seats fully and evenly in the toolholder to the recommended gauge-line depth before torquing the retention mechanism. Verify runout at the cutting edge with a dial indicator before beginning a production cut, as excessive runout accelerates wear and degrades surface finish on ball-nose tools.
