The ACCUPRO 12184848 is a single-end ball end mill designed for precision milling operations in metal and composite materials. Built from micrograin solid carbide, it delivers rigidity and wear resistance well beyond high-speed steel tooling. The 0.5625-inch (9/16-inch) cutting diameter pairs with a 40-degree right-hand helix and four spiral flutes for efficient chip evacuation and a smooth surface finish. A TiCN (Titanium Carbonitride) coating adds surface hardness and reduces friction at the cutting edge, extending tool life in ferrous and non-ferrous applications. This end mill is installed and operated by machinists and tool-and-die professionals working in CNC machining centers and manual mills.
This tool is suited for profiling, contouring, slotting, and 3D finishing passes where a ball-nose geometry is required. The stub-length classification keeps deflection low during aggressive cuts. With a 0.875-inch length of cut and a 3-inch overall length, it fits standard toolholding systems without extended-reach adapters in most setups. Typical applications include mold and die work, aerospace component finishing, and general-purpose CNC profiling in job shop environments.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for standard 9/16-inch shank ball end mill toolholders, including collet chucks, shrink-fit holders, and Weldon-style holders accepting a 0.5625-inch shank diameter.
Installation and operation should be performed by qualified machinists familiar with CNC or manual milling equipment. Secure the shank fully within the toolholder to the minimum insertion depth specified by the holder manufacturer before tightening. Verify spindle runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear on carbide tooling. Follow the machine tool manufacturer and toolholder torque specifications when clamping.
