The ACCUPRO 12184791 is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for precision milling in metal fabrication and machining applications. It features a 0.2969 inch (19/64 inch) cutting diameter and a 4-flute spiral configuration with a 40-degree helix angle, delivering smooth chip evacuation and consistent surface finishes. The cutting edges are coated with TiCN (Titanium Carbonitride) for improved hardness and wear resistance compared to uncoated carbide. Micrograin carbide construction provides the substrate toughness needed for demanding cuts in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. This tool is installed and operated by machinists and CNC programmers working in job shops, production machining, and toolroom environments.
This ball end mill is suited for contouring, profiling, slotting, and finishing passes on molds, dies, and complex 3D surfaces. Its stub-length profile and single-end construction keep deflection low in tight setups. The 5/16 inch shank diameter fits standard collets and end mill holders on vertical machining centers and CNC mills. The 0.5 inch length of cut keeps the tool rigid during light-to-moderate radial engagements typical of finishing and semi-finishing passes on hardened and alloy steels, stainless, aluminum, and similar workpiece materials.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills equipped with collet chucks or end mill holders accepting a 5/16 inch shank diameter. Suitable as an OEM-style replacement or direct substitute for ball end mills of matching diameter, flute count, shank size, and overall length in existing tool libraries.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC setup technician. Power down and lock out the spindle before loading or removing the tool from the holder. Seat the shank fully into the collet or toolholder bore and torque the retention nut or set screw according to the toolholder manufacturer specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear on a 4-flute carbide tool and degrades surface finish.
