The ACCUPRO 12184783 is a single-end ball end mill designed for precision milling in a wide range of ferrous and hardened materials. Built from micrograin solid carbide and finished with an AlTiN (Aluminum Titanium Nitride) coating, this tool delivers excellent hardness resistance and heat dissipation at elevated cutting speeds. The 0.2656-inch diameter ball nose geometry produces accurate contoured profiles, fillets, and 3D surface finishes. With 4 flutes and a 40-degree right-hand helix, it provides a balance of material removal rate and surface finish quality suited for production and tool-room environments. Machinists and CNC programmers working in die-and-mold, aerospace, or general metalworking will find this tool appropriate for both roughing and finishing passes in tight-tolerance applications.
This end mill is suited for use on CNC machining centers handling ferrous alloys, stainless steel, titanium, and high-temperature alloys where AlTiN coating provides a thermal barrier. The 0.5-inch length of cut and 2-inch overall length make it a stub-length tool, offering rigidity and reduced deflection in shallow-to-medium-depth pocket and contour operations. The 5/16-inch shank diameter fits standard collet systems and end mill holders common in both vertical and horizontal milling setups. It is sold as a single-end tool and is not regrindable for the opposing end.
Designed for use in standard 5/16-inch collets, ER collet chucks, and end mill holders on CNC vertical and horizontal machining centers. No specific machine model compatibility was stated in the product data.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in an e-stop or locked-out state before inserting or removing tooling. Seat the 5/16-inch shank fully into the collet or holder to the minimum recommended engagement depth per the toolholder manufacturer guidelines. Verify runout with a dial indicator after clamping to avoid premature tool wear or breakage.
