The ACCUPRO 12184657 is a single-end ball end mill engineered for precision contouring, profiling, and 3D milling operations in demanding metalworking applications. Built from micrograin solid carbide, this tool delivers high rigidity and edge retention compared to high-speed steel alternatives. The cutting geometry features 4 spiral flutes with a 40-degree helix angle and right-hand cutting and flute direction, promoting efficient chip evacuation and smooth surface finishes. An AlTiN coating adds thermal resistance and hardness at the cutting edge, extending tool life in abrasive and high-temperature materials. The 0.3906-inch (25/64 inch) ball diameter and 1-inch length of cut make it well suited for medium-depth finishing and semi-finishing passes.
This end mill is used in CNC milling operations across job shops, tool-and-die, aerospace component machining, and general metalworking environments. The 7/16-inch shank diameter fits standard ER collet chucks and milling tool holders common in vertical and horizontal machining centers. Its 2-3/4-inch overall length provides reach for moderate-depth pockets and contoured surfaces without excessive tool overhang. Licensed machinists and CNC operators are the primary users. It performs in ferrous alloys, hardened steels, stainless, titanium, and similar high-hardness materials where AlTiN coatings are most effective.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers and manual milling machines equipped with 7/16-inch collet chucks or compatible tool holders accepting a 7/16-inch shank diameter.
Installation and tool changes must be performed with the spindle fully stopped and machine power locked out per shop safety procedures. Seat the shank fully and evenly in the collet or holder to the minimum recommended clamping depth before torquing the nut. Verify tool runout with a dial indicator before the first cut, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear on carbide tooling. Follow the machine tool manufacturer and cutting tool guidelines for speeds, feeds, and depth-of-cut parameters appropriate to the workpiece material.
