The ACCUPRO 12184638 is a single-end ball end mill designed for contour milling, profiling, and 3D surface work in machining applications. Built from micrograin solid carbide, it delivers the hardness and wear resistance needed for extended tool life in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The cutting end measures 0.3281 inches in diameter with a 0.875-inch length of cut and a 40-degree helix angle that promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth surface finishes. A TiCN (Titanium Carbonitride) coating adds a hard, low-friction surface layer that improves heat resistance and extends tool life in abrasive materials. Four spiral flutes provide rigidity and a right-hand cutting direction for standard spindle operation.
This end mill is suited for CNC machining centers and manual mills where tight-tolerance profiling, slot milling, and contour work are required. The 3/8-inch shank diameter fits standard ER collets and side-lock holders common in production and job-shop environments. With a 2.5-inch overall length, it is appropriate for applications where reach is moderate and rigidity is a priority. Machinists working in tool and die, mold making, and precision part production will find this tool applicable for finishing passes and semi-finish operations on a wide range of workpiece materials.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement or standard addition for CNC machining setups using 3/8-inch collet or toolholder systems. Compatible with ER-style collet chucks, shrink-fit holders, and side-lock end mill holders accepting a 3/8-inch straight shank.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop safety procedures and equipment manufacturer guidelines. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down before inserting or removing the end mill from its holder. Confirm holder runout is within acceptable tolerance before beginning a cut, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear on carbide tooling. Avoid impact or lateral stress when seating the shank, as micrograin carbide is hard but brittle.
