The ACCUPRO 12184502 is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for precision milling operations in metalworking and machining environments. With a 0.3125 inch (5/16 inch) mill diameter and a 1 inch length of cut, this tool handles profiling, contouring, and 3D surface work in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The 3-flute geometry with a 40-degree right-hand helix balances chip evacuation and surface finish. Micrograin carbide construction provides the hardness and edge retention needed for demanding cuts. This is a single-end tool with a 5/16 inch shank diameter and a long-length 4 inch overall length, suited for reaching into deeper cavities or pockets.
This end mill is used in CNC machining centers and manual mills for die and mold work, aerospace component profiling, and general precision part manufacture. The long-length configuration extends reach for deeper pocket milling where a standard-length tool would not clear the workpiece. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals working in job shops or production environments will find this tool appropriate for finishing and semi-finishing passes on contoured surfaces. The uncoated finish makes it straightforward to resharpen when edge life is exhausted.
Designed as a standard 5/16 inch shank ball end mill compatible with CNC machining centers and manual mills accepting ER collets, end mill holders, or similar tooling systems sized for a 5/16 inch shank diameter.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop safety procedures. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is locked out before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully in the collet or holder to the recommended gauge-line depth and torque the retaining nut per the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Confirm runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear on carbide tooling.
