The ACCUPRO 12184488 is a single-end, 3-flute ball end mill designed for precision milling of contoured surfaces, cavities, and complex 3D profiles. Built from solid carbide with a TiCN (Titanium Carbonitride) coating, it delivers extended tool life and improved wear resistance in a wide range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The cutter measures 0.1875 inches in diameter with a 1-inch length of cut and a 40-degree helix angle that promotes smooth chip evacuation and reduces cutting forces. At 2.5 inches overall length, it is classified as an extra-long reach tool, making it well suited to deeper pockets and stepped-down workpiece features where standard-length tooling cannot reach.
This end mill is intended for CNC machining center applications in job shops, tool-and-die operations, and precision manufacturing environments. The ball-nose geometry is ideal for finishing passes on 3D contoured surfaces, die cavities, and sculptured mold work. The extra-long overall length allows access to features with significant depth, while the solid carbide construction maintains rigidity at smaller diameters. A 3/16-inch shank diameter matches the cutter diameter, making it compatible with standard ER collet chucks and precision toolholders in that size range.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for standard 3/16-inch shank ball end mills used in CNC machining centers equipped with ER collet or shrink-fit toolholding systems accepting a 3/16-inch shank diameter.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the control is in an e-stop or tool-change state before loading the tool. Seat the shank fully into the collet or toolholder to the recommended engagement depth before tightening to the toolholder manufacturer's specified torque. Verify runout with a dial indicator after clamping, as excessive runout at this diameter will accelerate tool wear and degrade surface finish.
