The ACCUPRO 12184459 is a single-end ball end mill designed for three-dimensional contouring, profiling, and finish milling operations in ferrous and hardened materials. Built from micrograin solid carbide and coated with AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride), it withstands the elevated cutting temperatures generated in high-speed and hard-milling applications. The mill measures 1 inch in diameter with a 3-inch length of cut and a 6-inch overall length, making it well suited for deep-cavity and extended-reach work. The 3-flute, right-hand spiral configuration with a 40-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and produces a consistent surface finish across complex geometries.
This end mill is used in CNC machining centers for mold and die work, aerospace component finishing, and precision part profiling where a ball-nose geometry is required. The extra-long 6-inch overall length and 3-inch length of cut accommodate deep pockets and tall workpiece features that standard-length end mills cannot reach. The 1-inch shank diameter provides rigid coupling to standard ER or side-lock toolholders. It is installed and operated by machinists and toolroom professionals working in job-shop or production environments.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement or standard tooling selection for CNC machining centers accepting a 1-inch straight shank end mill in ER collet chucks, Weldon-flat side-lock holders, or hydraulic toolholders.
Installation and operation should be performed by qualified machinists familiar with CNC tooling setup. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before loading or removing the tool. Verify toolholder runout with a dial indicator before cutting to protect the carbide from premature chipping. AlTiN-coated carbide end mills are optimized for dry or near-dry cutting conditions; consult your feeds-and-speeds reference for the specific workpiece material before programming the first pass.
