The ACCUPRO 12184398 is a single-end ball end mill designed for contour milling, profiling, and 3D surfacing operations on CNC machining centers and manual mills. Built from micrograin solid carbide, it delivers rigidity and wear resistance across a range of ferrous and non-ferrous workpiece materials. The cutting end measures 0.5 inches in diameter with a 1-inch length of cut, and the tool carries a TiCN coating that reduces friction and extends edge life in demanding cutting conditions. Three right-hand spiral flutes with a 40-degree helix angle promote efficient chip evacuation and smooth surface finishes.
This ball end mill suits production and job-shop applications where tight tolerances and consistent finish quality are required on contoured or sculpted surfaces. It is appropriate for use in hardened steels, alloy steels, stainless steel, cast iron, and similar materials where a TiCN-coated micrograin carbide tool provides a performance advantage. The 3-inch overall length and 0.5-inch shank diameter make it compatible with standard end mill holders, collet chucks, and shrink-fit tooling systems used in typical vertical and horizontal machining center setups.
Designed as a standard 0.5-inch shank ball end mill compatible with end mill holders, ER collet chucks, and shrink-fit toolholders that accept a 0.5-inch shank diameter on CNC machining centers and manual knee mills.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before inserting or removing the tool from the holder. Seat the shank to the recommended engagement depth specified by the toolholder manufacturer and torque set screws or collet nuts per the toolholder maker's guidelines. Confirm runout with a dial indicator before beginning a production cut, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear on solid carbide tools.
