The ACCUPRO 12184317 is a single-end, two-flute ball end mill engineered for precision milling in demanding shop environments. Constructed from micrograin solid carbide and coated with titanium carbonitride (TiCN), it is built to handle harder workpiece materials at elevated cutting speeds with reduced wear. The ball-nose geometry produces contoured and profiled surfaces in both roughing and finishing passes. At 6 inches overall length with a 1.5-inch length of cut and a 0.5-inch diameter, this tool is suited for deep-reach applications where a standard-length end mill cannot access the workpiece. Machinists and CNC operators in job shops, tool rooms, and production environments are the primary users.
This end mill is applied in CNC machining centers and manual knee mills where three-dimensional contouring, cavity milling, and die or mold work require a ball-nose profile. The extra-long overall length of 6 inches makes it appropriate for deep pockets, angled setups, and multi-axis work where extended reach is necessary. The right-hand cutting direction and right-hand spiral flute design are standard for conventional and climb milling on CNC vertical machining centers. The 40-degree helix angle promotes smooth chip evacuation and reduces cutting forces on the workpiece.
Designed as a standard shank ball end mill compatible with tool holders accepting a 0.5-inch shank diameter, including collet chucks, end mill holders, and shrink-fit holders used on CNC machining centers and manual vertical mills.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator following the machine tool manufacturer guidelines. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down or in an e-stop state before changing tooling. Verify the shank is fully seated in the holder to the minimum engagement depth recommended by the toolholder manufacturer before torquing the retention fastener. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or damage before each use.
