The ACCUPRO 12184220 is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for precision milling operations in metalworking and machining environments. With a 0.3125-inch mill diameter and a 1.125-inch length of cut, this single-end tool handles profiling, contouring, and 3D surface work where a radiused tip is required. The 40-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and reduces cutting forces, making it well suited for demanding cuts in harder materials. Micrograin carbide construction provides the hardness and wear resistance needed for consistent performance across production runs. This tool is installed and operated by machinists and CNC programmers working in job shops, tool rooms, and production facilities.
This ball end mill is classified as a long-length tool with a 3-inch overall length and a 5/16-inch shank diameter, giving it extended reach for deeper pockets and contoured cavities. The right-hand cutting direction and right-hand spiral flute design are standard for conventional and climb milling on CNC machining centers and manual mills. The bright uncoated finish makes it appropriate for use in a range of materials where coated tooling is not required or where re-sharpening is anticipated. No chipbreaker geometry is present, keeping the cutting edge geometry clean for smooth surface finishes on contoured workpieces.
Designed as a standard single-end ball end mill with a 5/16-inch straight shank, compatible with ER collet chucks, end mill holders, and other standard toolholding systems accepting that shank diameter on CNC machining centers and manual milling machines.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop safety procedures. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Seat the shank to the minimum recommended engagement depth in the toolholder and torque the retention mechanism according to the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut, as excessive runout will accelerate wear on a two-flute tool of this diameter.
