The ACCUPRO 12184148 is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for precision milling operations in metal, composites, and hard materials. With a 0.3281-inch (21/64-inch) cutting diameter and a 0.625-inch length of cut, this stub-length tool delivers rigidity and accuracy in tight-tolerance applications. The 40-degree helix angle promotes smooth chip evacuation and reduced cutting forces. Machined from micrograin solid carbide, it offers excellent wear resistance and edge retention at elevated feeds and speeds. This is a single-end, right-hand cut, right-hand flute tool with a 3/8-inch shank diameter and an overall length of 2 inches. No coating is applied, making it suitable for use in applications where coatings are not required or where re-sharpening is anticipated.
This ball end mill is used in CNC machining centers and manual milling machines for profiling, contouring, slotting, and 3D surface milling. The stub-length configuration minimizes deflection, making it a practical choice for high-precision work in die and mold, aerospace component machining, and general job-shop applications. The 2-flute geometry provides adequate chip clearance when working in softer metals and non-ferrous alloys, while the micrograin carbide substrate supports use in harder workpiece materials. Licensed machinists and CNC operators are the typical end users for this tooling.
Designed as a standard single-end ball end mill with a 3/8-inch straight shank, compatible with ER collet chucks, end mill holders, and milling machine spindles accepting that shank diameter.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully powered down and locked out before inserting or removing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the collet or holder and torque retention hardware to the tool holder manufacturer's specifications. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a production cut, particularly in high-precision applications.
