The ACCUPRO 12183889 is a 6-flute solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding machining environments. Built from micrograin solid carbide and coated with AlTiN (Aluminum Titanium Nitride), this tool handles elevated cutting temperatures and abrasive workpiece materials. The 40-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. With a 3/4 inch mill diameter, a 2-1/4 inch length of cut, and a 5 inch overall length, this is a long-length configuration suited for applications requiring extended reach into deep pockets or stepped features. It is a single-end, centercutting tool with right-hand cut and right-hand flute direction.
This end mill is used in CNC machining centers and manual knee mills where long length of cut is required. The long-reach geometry makes it appropriate for deep cavity milling, shoulder milling, and slot milling in materials such as hardened steels, stainless steels, cast iron, and high-temperature alloys where AlTiN coating provides a thermal barrier. The micrograin carbide substrate offers rigidity and edge retention at higher cutting speeds. Machinists and toolroom professionals working in job shops, aerospace, or general metalworking will find this tool suited to applications that exceed the reach of standard-length end mills.
Designed as a standard 3/4 inch shank end mill compatible with ER, CAT, BT, and HSK toolholders accepting a 3/4 inch straight shank, as well as side-lock holders and milling chucks in that bore size. Confirm holder projection and runout tolerance before use in tight-tolerance applications.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe state before inserting or removing the tool. Seat the shank to the full recommended insertion depth in the toolholder to minimize runout and tool pull-out risk under load. Follow the machine tool manufacturer and toolholder manufacturer guidelines for clamping torque and stick-out limits; excessive overhang beyond the long-length design intent will increase deflection and reduce tool life.
