The ACCUPRO 12183687 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations in metal, composites, and other hard materials. It features a 3/8 inch cutting diameter, a 1-1/2 inch length of cut, and a 6 inch overall length that puts it in the extra-long category — useful when reach is a factor in deep-pocket or long-reach setups. The 40-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. With four flutes and a spiral flute geometry, it delivers a balance of material removal rate and surface finish quality. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals are the primary users.
This end mill is suited for ferrous and non-ferrous machining applications where a standard-reach tool cannot reach the workpiece. The extra-long overall length of 6 inches makes it applicable in mold work, deep-cavity milling, and setups requiring extended tool projection. The centercutting design allows plunge entry directly into the workpiece without a pre-drilled hole. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration is standard for conventional CNC and manual milling machine spindles. The uncoated micrograin carbide substrate is appropriate for dry or wet machining where a coated tool is not specified.
Designed as a standard 3/8 inch shank end mill for use in collet chucks, end mill holders, and milling chucks accepting 3/8 inch shank tooling on CNC machining centers and manual vertical mills.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the machine tool manufacturer's tool-holding specifications. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe state before loading or unloading the tool. Verify runout at the tool tip after clamping, as extra-long tools are more sensitive to runout-induced deflection and premature wear. Consult the machine tool's programming or operations manual for recommended feeds and speeds appropriate to the workpiece material and depth of cut.
