The ACCUPRO 12183680 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precision milling operations in metal and alloy workpieces. It features a 5/16-inch diameter with a 1/8-inch (0.1250-inch) corner radius and a 1-1/2-inch length of cut, providing controlled edge engagement and reduced chipping at corners. The AlTiN coating improves heat resistance and tool life in high-temperature cutting applications. With four flutes, a 40-degree helix angle, and right-hand spiral flute geometry, this end mill delivers efficient chip evacuation and smooth surface finishes. It is a single-end, centercutting tool, meaning it can be used for plunge cuts as well as peripheral milling. Machinists and CNC operators working in job shops, toolrooms, and production environments are the primary users.
This end mill is suited for profiling, slotting, and contouring operations where corner radius geometry is required to reduce stress concentrations in part features. The extra-long 6-inch overall length allows reach into deep cavities or tall workpiece setups that standard-length tools cannot access. It is appropriate for use in steels, stainless steels, and high-temperature alloys where AlTiN coating performance is most effective. The 5/16-inch shank diameter matches the cutter diameter, making it compatible with standard collet systems and end mill holders of that bore size.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills equipped with standard 5/16-inch collets or end mill holders. Compatible with right-hand spindle rotation setups standard to vertical and horizontal milling machines.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the spindle is fully powered down and the machine is in a safe state before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the collet or holder to the recommended engagement depth to minimize runout and deflection, particularly important given the extra-long reach of this tool. Verify tool runout with a dial indicator before beginning a production cut when tight tolerances are required.
