The ACCUPRO 12183582 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in metal cutting and general machining applications. It features a 5/8-inch cutting diameter, a 2-inch length of cut, and a 6-inch overall length, making it well suited for long-reach slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling operations. The 40-degree helix angle improves chip evacuation and reduces cutting forces across a range of workpiece materials. Built from micrograin solid carbide, this end mill delivers rigidity and edge retention that high-speed steel tooling cannot match. It ships uncoated and is intended for machinists and toolroom professionals who specify tooling to tight tolerances.
This end mill is appropriate for use in vertical machining centers, CNC knee mills, and manual milling machines where a long-length tool is required to reach deep features or clear fixture components. The centercutting geometry allows plunge entry directly into the workpiece without pre-drilling. Right-hand cut and right-hand spiral flute configuration is standard for conventional spindle rotation. The spiral flute design with no chipbreaker keeps chip flow predictable in open slotting and side milling passes. Typical applications include steel, stainless, cast iron, aluminum, and non-ferrous alloys.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement or standard tooling selection for any machine tool spindle accepting a 5/8-inch straight shank, including ER collet chucks, end mill holders, and shrink-fit toolholders with the appropriate bore size.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is locked out before inserting or removing the end mill from the toolholder. Seat the shank to the full recommended grip length in the holder to minimize runout and prevent pullout under cutting loads. Verify runout at the tool tip with a dial indicator before beginning a production cut; excessive runout accelerates edge wear and reduces surface finish quality.
