The ACCUPRO 12183568 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precision milling in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. It features a 0.06 inch corner radius that reduces stress concentration at the cutting edge and extends tool life in aggressive material removal applications. With a 4-inch overall length, a 1/2 inch diameter, and a 1 inch length of cut, this is a long-series end mill suited for reaching into pockets and stepped features. The TiCN coating provides increased surface hardness and wear resistance compared to uncoated carbide. Machining professionals and tool-and-die shops rely on this geometry for semi-finish and finish passes where edge integrity matters.
This end mill is used in CNC machining centers handling ferrous alloys, hardened steels, stainless, and similar demanding workpiece materials. The single-end, centercutting design supports both peripheral and plunge cuts, making it practical for profiling, slotting, and pocket milling. The 40-degree helix promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. It is well suited to vertical and horizontal machining centers running at production feeds and speeds where coating durability and dimensional consistency are required.
Designed as a standard 1/2 inch shank end mill compatible with ER collet chucks, end mill holders, and hydraulic toolholders sized for 1/2 inch straight shanks on CNC machining centers.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the controller is in a safe state before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the holder to the recommended engagement depth and torque the retention mechanism per the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Verify runout with a dial indicator after clamping, as excessive runout accelerates wear on coated carbide end mills and degrades dimensional accuracy.
