The ACCUPRO 12183549 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in metal, composites, and engineering plastics. It features a 7/16 inch (0.4375 inch) cutting diameter and a 1 inch length of cut, making it well suited for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling operations on CNC machining centers and manual mills. The 4-flute, spiral-flute geometry with a 40-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and a smooth finish. Micrograin carbide construction provides wear resistance and rigidity at higher feed rates. This is a right-hand cut, right-hand flute, centercutting tool — meaning it can be plunged directly into the workpiece. The shank diameter matches the cutting diameter at 7/16 inch, fitting standard ER or straight-bore toolholders.
This end mill is intended for use in production and job-shop environments where tight tolerances and consistent tool life are required. The long-series classification (4 inch overall length) provides additional reach for deeper pockets and stepped features without requiring an extended-reach holder. It is appropriate for machinists, toolmakers, and CNC operators working in aerospace, automotive, mold and die, and general metalworking applications. No coating is applied, making it a straightforward choice for non-ferrous metals, aluminum alloys, and softer steels where coating adhesion is not a concern.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement or standard tooling option for any machine spindle or toolholder accepting a 7/16 inch straight shank, including ER collet chucks and end mill holders with a shank bore to that diameter.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator following shop safety procedures. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before inserting or removing the tool. Seat the shank to the minimum recommended insertion depth per the toolholder manufacturer — typically no less than 2.5 times the shank diameter — to prevent pullout under cutting loads. Verify runout at the cutting edge with a dial indicator before commencing production cuts; excessive runout accelerates tool wear and degrades surface finish.
