The ACCUPRO 12183517 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precision milling operations in metal fabrication and machining environments. Built from micrograin solid carbide and coated with AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride), this single-end, centercutting tool delivers hardness and heat resistance for aggressive cuts in ferrous and hardened materials. It carries a 5/16-inch diameter, a 0.02-inch corner radius, and a 1-inch length of cut. The 4-flute, right-hand spiral geometry provides efficient chip evacuation and surface finish quality suited to production CNC milling work.
This end mill is used in CNC vertical and horizontal machining centers for profiling, slotting, and finishing operations where a small corner radius is required to reduce stress concentration at workpiece corners. Its long-length configuration with a 4-inch overall length allows access to deeper pockets and features without sacrificing rigidity. The AlTiN coating makes it well-suited for dry or semi-dry machining of alloy steels, stainless steel, and hardened materials where heat buildup is a concern. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals in job shops, production facilities, and mold-making environments are the primary users.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard tooling selection for CNC milling machines accepting a 5/16-inch straight shank end mill in ER or similar collet-style toolholders.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Seat the 5/16-inch shank fully into the collet or toolholder to the recommended clamping depth and torque the retention nut per the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning any cut, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear and reduces corner radius accuracy.
