The ACCUPRO 12183249 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision material removal in milling applications. Built from micrograin carbide, it delivers consistent edge retention and dimensional accuracy across a range of workpiece materials. The 4-flute configuration and 40-degree helix angle promote efficient chip evacuation and a smooth cutting action. At 4 inches overall length with a 1.625-inch length of cut, this is classified as an extra-long end mill, providing reach into deeper pockets and cavities where standard-length tools fall short. It is centercutting and uncoated, suitable for dry cutting or use with coolant as dictated by the application.
This end mill is used in CNC machining centers, knee mills, and manual milling machines across job shops, tool rooms, and production environments. The extra-long overall length makes it well suited for deep-pocket milling, stepped features, and applications requiring extended reach without tool path interference. Right-hand cut and right-hand spiral flute geometry follow standard spindle configurations on the vast majority of vertical milling setups. Machinists and CNC operators working in steel, aluminum, plastics, and similar machinable materials will find this tool appropriate for finishing and semi-finishing passes.
Designed as a standard-shank square end mill with a 5/16-inch shank diameter, compatible with ER collet chucks, end mill holders, and set-screw holders sized for 5/16-inch tooling on CNC machining centers and manual milling machines.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked before loading or changing the tool. Seat the shank fully into the collet or holder and torque the retention nut or set screw to the tool holder specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning the cut, as excessive runout on carbide tooling accelerates edge wear and can cause premature breakage.
