The ACCUPRO 12183129 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precision milling in demanding metalworking applications. The tool features a 5/8 inch diameter, a 2-1/8 inch length of cut, and a 0.045 inch corner radius that reduces stress concentration at the tool corner, extending tool life in interrupted and continuous cuts. The 4-flute, right-hand spiral geometry combined with an AlTiN coating allows for higher cutting speeds and better heat resistance in ferrous and hardened materials. At 4-5/8 inches overall length and a 5/8 inch shank, this is a long-reach tool suited for deep-cavity and side-wall milling operations. Machinists and CNC programmers working in job shops, tool rooms, and production environments will find this tool well matched to finishing and semi-finishing passes in steel, stainless, and cast iron.
This end mill is built for general metalworking and mold-and-die applications where a corner radius profile is required to reduce notch stress or blend floor-to-wall transitions. The centercutting design allows plunge entry, making it suitable for pocket milling without a pre-drilled entry point. The long flute length of 2-1/8 inches accommodates deep side-wall engagements in a single pass. Right-hand cutting direction is standard for conventional CNC machining center spindles. The micrograin carbide substrate supports higher hardness and better edge retention compared to standard carbide grades, particularly in abrasive or hardened workpiece materials.
Designed as a standard-shank solid carbide corner radius end mill with a 5/8 inch shank diameter, compatible with ER collet chucks, end mill holders, and hydraulic toolholders sized for 5/8 inch straight shanks on CNC machining centers and manual knee mills.
Installation requires a clean, burr-free toolholder bore and proper torque on the retention mechanism per the toolholder manufacturer specification. Confirm spindle speed and feed rate against the cutting tool manufacturer recommendations for the workpiece material and coating type before engaging the cut. Inspect the corner radius and flute edges for chipping before each use, as solid carbide tools are brittle and sensitive to side loading from interrupted cuts or excessive runout. Maximum runout should be verified with a dial indicator at the toolholder before production cutting.
