The ACCUPRO 12183120 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precision milling operations in metalworking and machining applications. It features a 5/8 inch diameter, a 2-1/8 inch length of cut, and a 0.045 inch corner radius that reduces stress concentration at the cutting edge and extends tool life in demanding cuts. With 4 right-hand spiral flutes and a TiCN coating, this end mill handles harder workpiece materials at elevated surface speeds. The micrograin carbide substrate provides rigidity and edge retention. It is a single-end, centercutting design, meaning it can be plunged directly into the workpiece as well as used for peripheral and slot milling.
This end mill is suited for job shops and production machining environments working with alloy steels, stainless steels, cast iron, and similar ferrous materials where TiCN coating provides a hardness and lubricity advantage. The long flute configuration with a 4-5/8 inch overall length accommodates deeper pockets and extended-reach setups on vertical machining centers, CNC knee mills, and similar equipment. It is typically selected when a standard-length end mill cannot reach the required depth without tool holder interference.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement or standard selection for CNC machining centers and manual knee mills using ER, CAT, BT, or HSK toolholders sized for a 5/8 inch shank diameter. No specific OEM or machine model compatibility was stated in the product data.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before inserting or removing the tool from the holder. Seat the shank fully into the collet or end mill holder and torque the retention mechanism to the toolholder manufacturer specification. Verify runout at the cutting diameter before beginning a production cycle, as excess runout accelerates corner radius wear and reduces surface finish quality.
