The ACCUPRO 12183043 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precision milling operations in metalworking and machining applications. It features a 5/16-inch (0.3125 inch) mill diameter, a 1-1/8-inch (1.1250 inch) length of cut, and a 0.0200-inch corner radius that reduces stress concentrations at the bottom of a cut and extends tool life. The 40-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation, while the AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) coating provides high-heat resistance for dry or high-speed cutting. This is a single-end, centercutting tool, meaning it can plunge directly into the workpiece. Machinists and CNC operators working in aerospace, die-and-mold, and general precision machining will find this tool well suited to finishing and semi-finishing passes in hardened steels and high-temp alloys.
This end mill is intended for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills where tight tolerances and a consistent corner radius are required. The long-length configuration (3-inch overall length with a 5/16-inch shank diameter) allows access to deeper features and pockets without sacrificing rigidity. Right-hand cutting and right-hand spiral flute direction are standard for conventional toolholder setups. The micrograin carbide substrate supports higher cutting speeds and feeds compared to standard grain carbide, making it appropriate for production environments cutting ferrous and nonferrous materials alike.
Designed as an OEM-style solid carbide corner radius end mill compatible with standard 5/16-inch collets, end mill holders, and shrink-fit toolholders used in CNC machining centers and manual knee mills.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the machine spindle is fully powered down and locked out before loading or unloading the tool. Seat the shank fully into the collet or toolholder to the recommended engagement depth and torque the drawbar or clamping nut per the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning the cut, as excessive runout will accelerate wear and compromise corner radius tolerance.
