The ACCUPRO 12183017 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precision milling of ferrous and non-ferrous metals. It features a 1/4 inch diameter, a 1-1/8 inch length of cut, and a 0.03 inch corner radius that reduces stress concentration at the cutting edge and extends tool life in aggressive side-milling and slotting operations. The AlTiN coating provides high-temperature oxidation resistance, making this end mill well-suited for dry or near-dry cutting conditions. With a 40-degree helix angle and four right-hand spiral flutes, it delivers efficient chip evacuation and smooth surface finishes. Machinists and CNC operators in job shops, tool rooms, and production environments install this tool for finishing and semi-finishing passes where edge integrity is critical.
This end mill is intended for use in vertical machining centers, CNC mills, and manual knee mills where a 1/4 inch shank is compatible with the spindle toolholder. The long-length configuration, with a 3 inch overall length, provides additional reach for deeper cavities and pockets. The centercutting design allows direct plunge entry, expanding its utility across profiling, contouring, and pocket milling operations. Micrograin carbide substrate supports the tight tolerances required for precision die, mold, and fixture work.
Designed for use in 1/4 inch toolholders including collet chucks, end mill holders, and shrink-fit holders compatible with standard 1/4 inch shank diameters. Shank diameter tolerance is -0.0001 to -0.0004 inches for consistent runout in precision holders.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator following the machine tool manufacturer's toolholder torque and retention specifications. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and locked out before loading or changing the tool. Seat the shank to the recommended engagement depth in the holder to avoid deflection during cutting. Verify runout with a dial indicator before production cuts when tolerances are critical.
