The ACCUPRO 12183002 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precision milling of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. It features a 1/4 inch mill diameter with a 0.045 inch corner radius that reduces stress concentration at the cutting edge and extends tool life in demanding applications. The 4-flute, right-hand spiral geometry with a 40-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth surface finishes. At 3 inches overall length with a 1-1/8 inch length of cut, this is a long-reach configuration suited for slotting, profiling, and contouring operations where standard-length tools cannot reach. It is centercutting and runs in right-hand cutting direction. The bright, uncoated finish is appropriate for general-purpose use and applications where coating buildup is a concern.
This end mill is used in CNC machining centers, vertical mills, and manual knee mills for profiling, pocket milling, and contour work. The corner radius geometry is particularly well suited for operations requiring a blended radius at the floor-to-wall transition in a pocket, reducing the risk of chipping compared to a sharp corner end mill. Machinists, tool and die makers, and job shop operators working in production or prototype environments will find this tool applicable across steel, aluminum, and similar workpiece materials.
Designed as a standard single-end corner radius end mill with a 1/4 inch shank diameter, compatible with any ER, collet chuck, or end mill holder sized for 1/4 inch shank tooling on CNC or manual milling machines.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the machine tool manufacturer's toolholding guidelines. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Seat the shank to the minimum recommended insertion depth in the holder to maximize rigidity and minimize runout. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning cuts, as excessive runout will accelerate corner radius wear and degrade surface finish quality.
