The ACCUPRO 12182977 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precision milling operations in metalworking and machining applications. It features a 1 inch cutting diameter, a 2-1/4 inch length of cut, and a 0.01 inch corner radius that reduces stress concentrations at the cutting edge and extends tool life. With 4 spiral flutes and a 40-degree helix angle, the tool promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. A TiCN coating adds surface hardness and wear resistance, making this end mill well-suited for ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The overall length is 5 inches with a 1 inch shank diameter. It is a single-end, centercutting design, ground from micrograin carbide stock.
This end mill is intended for use in machining centers, CNC milling machines, and manual mills where long-reach milling or deep-slot work requires a longer-than-standard length of cut. The right-hand flute direction and right-hand cutting orientation make it compatible with standard spindle configurations. Typical applications include shoulder milling, profiling, and slotting in tool steels, alloy steels, and hardened materials where TiCN coating provides a performance advantage. Licensed machinists, toolroom operators, and CNC programmers are the primary end users. The long-length designation suits setups requiring reach beyond what a stub or standard end mill can provide.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct tooling option for CNC machining centers and manual mills accepting a 1 inch straight shank end mill with standard ER or side-lock toolholders.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC toolroom professional. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool changer or spindle lock is engaged before inserting or removing the end mill. Secure the 1 inch shank in a properly sized collet, hydraulic chuck, or side-lock holder torqued to the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear on carbide tooling.
